In Skipton collecting locally made artisan foods. The husband and wife team in this little shop near the castle make traditional lemon cheese, reputedly to a recipe originating in nearby Barnoldswick – my home town – many, many years ago. It goes beautifully as a finishing golden layer on top of my lemon cheesecakes and is well worth battling through the throng of tourists that make Skipton High Street such a busy thriving place. During sixth form, when we were allowed out at lunchtime from the grammar school around the corner, my rushed walks hunting for food were good training how to weave down the busy streets and back in good time.
