Views from Hawkshead in the Lake District – fantastic views before, during and after cooking at Thompson Ground Farmhouse. When I get chance I like to grab a photo of the view from the kitchen window… this one didn’t disappoint! No photos of the food this time – it was straight out of the oven onto the dining table – so you’ll have to imagine the zesty lime and coriander marinated chicken breast starter, the succulent spinach and wild garlic salmon en croûte, the creamy potato gratin dauphinois, the sweet honey roasted carrots, the melt-in-the-mouth slow roasted courgettes and the decadent freshly baked sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. All dairy free. All delicious. All incredibly well received. All a surprise. My coming and cooking a meal was a surprise gift from Janice to her sisters during their holiday together in the Lake District.
