First wild garlic flower I’ve spotted this spring. I checked back and they’re opening just a single day earlier than last year. I love the smell of garlic when you pass these growing in wooded banks along roadsides or by the canal. This photo is from the bottom of our street, in the middle of Barnoldswick, where trees line the beck as it cuts through town. There’s an old mill race that used to feed water to the pond for the corn mill (Skipton has one too, behind the castle in Skipton Woods) and it’s surrounded by trees, celandines, anemones and wild garlic at this time of year. Beautiful, smells lovely and tastes great!
