Part of my impromptu team of very smartly dressed waiters, pausing to photograph the starters before whisking the plates into the dining room for their fellow diners. This weekend I cooked for 18 people who had travelled up from Cheshire and beyond to celebrate two 50th birthdays together at Hermitage Manor House near Lancaster. In such a large property it’s a bit of a trek between rooms, so the help was very much appreciated!
