The Old Library in Masham, above the Old Bank – both of which are now holiday homes. Both were being rented by the same family so I cooked local lamb and potato dauphinoise in the bank’s oven and Yorkshire honey glazed carrots and stuffed mushrooms in the library’s oven. Lancashire leeks were sliced and sauteed in the library. Dessert was kept secure in the bank’s fridge. I must have looked a picture stealing out of the bank’s front door in the night, clutching silver-covered trays and giant pots. A great evening – it was a 60th birthday celebration – and fabulous people to cook for (most were at the pub in the afternoon when this photo was taken, sampling locally brewed ales).
This is just one of many insights into my work as a travelling private chef in the North of England. "Where do you cook?" I hear you ask, "I'm looking for a private chef near me".
