Family time harvesting potatoes in the sunshine

Family time harvesting potatoes in the sunshine on the last day of the summer holidays. We got 8.5kg of potatoes from 6 plants – a pretty good return from chucking six sprouting old potatoes in the ground earlier in the year. It must have been all that good homemade compost made from peelings from my cooking! We cooked some of today’s harvest for tea, roasted in goose and chicken fat with a sprinkling of thyme.
