One of my favourite places in the Yorkshire Dales, between Grassington and Kilnsey in Upper Whafedale. This is where we come for family time – fishing for minnows, kayaking down the rapids, skimming stones, building dams, wild swimming, watching fish leap out of the water to catch flies, exploring the woods and, of course, eating a picnic. With it raining for so most of the school break we’ve not been here much this summer but I took this photo on our latest visit. I often drive alongside this river heading north to cook in Wharfedale, Bishopsdale, Swaledale and Wensleydale – always a pleasure.
